I got DirectX in Safe Mode after diving deep enough into Drivers and registry.
I also got the accelerated graphics port up, and all DX-based things are working perfectly.

I have 640+ fps in SF 2.0 YAY  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Now I'm reinstalling the DX-based deleted games and etc.

While I"m wondering why you are playing in safe mode, I am happy for the FPS on your end. Such a world of difference coding wise from 1.4x in general in optimization, and I'm not even done yet Wink

And even Advent Rising, GalCiv Ultimate Edition and more are working like normal, and the graphics acceleration makes opengl apps much faster!

Safe Mode is essentially windows 'dry' without all the background services.

You can get a similar effect just going into your administrator tools and opening up services.  Then disabling... EVERYTHING.

I wouldn't use Safe Mode for anything other than what it was designed for.  That way, if you DO screw something up, you still HAVE Safe Mode to unscrew it.

It's like using the Emergency Donut on your car as a normal tire.   When you blow the Donut, then what?

How did you even get network connection to work? I can't start the required service even in "Safe mode with networking"...

I am using the Safe Mode with Networking mode (SF+N) since months ago, and I checked almost any "flags", or settings to get sound and DirectX and other things.
Weeks (actually 1-3 months) ago I found a registry file for sound in Safe Mode (both variations).
I added services and drivers to the registry key for SF+N, located at
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeMode\Network
and I used what I had (not yet DX or AGP)...
...until yesterday, when I inspected the divers and driver details using the Windows Explorer and 7-Zip (for signature checking & function & etc.).
Then, voilà: DX works; SF 2.0 works; Warsow works; I reinstalled Advent Rising and GalCiv2 - both working now,
got not only DX, but also AGP: OpenGL programs are smoother and faster.
And I got again less than 10 GB of HDD space free Grin
