The latest alpha version of SF 2.0 has a built in packet logger that will be used going forward to troubleshoot all network-related issues. What it does is capture all network data to and from your client or server with detailed timing information to a compressed .pktlog file that Nite and I can analyze later.

Eventually, our goal is to be able to replay the packet log through the game so we can see what actually happened, but for now we will be using a custom tool to analyze it and dump it out to text.

This feature is off by default and must be enabled
. To enable it, add the following line to sf.cfg and server.cfg in your binwin folder:

capture.capture = 1

Once you enable this and play a game, you will see either/both a sf_*.pktlog file or/and a server_*.pktlog file in your binwin folder. When submitting bugs about lag issues, please include both of these files when possible but at least sf_*.pktlog.
