Nooooooo The Original Maurader is what brought me great glory this "frigate" is nothing more then a underpowered destroyer ship.....

3 tubes of weapons very little upgrade capabilitys.... I give the Frigate class ship a HUGE Thumbs down.

Since this is a question of fact and not a question of opinion, no poll is necessary. Voting is hence locked.

To address the OP's question, the Marauder, as such, does not exist anymore; it has been replaced with the Frigate, which visually appears the same as the former Marauder but does not have the same specs. I don't remember what rank is required to use the Frigate but I believe it is a very low rank.

The Starbase requires a rank of at least Fleet Admiral to use.

The game is now effectively freeware and no code of any sort is required.

The Marauder was removed when the game got to be freeware because the Marauder was made for paying customers. It's obvious why people want it. It has the speed of a corvette, and the strength/power of a Dreadnought. There was NO point for playing any other ship except this ship because of its capabilities, it unbalanced the game hugely. It was only added as a perk for those players, as was lasers.

The game is freeware and we are attempting to balance the ships alot more then they currently are. Small ships being fast/agile, and Larger ships being more hull/raw power.  As you rank up you'll get into ships that have more then 12 modules now, the Dreadnought has some good firepower, and it doesn't take too long to get too.

The frigate is faster then the destroyer, but packs less guns. It's not really meant to be a crazy ship.

Feel free to create your own mods though, that's what this heavily based on Wink

I must admit I liked the old maurader but as i play this this "newer" version I'm liking it better. Everyone did just use a maurader. Now you have to use other ships. Makes it more balanced. Anyway, glad you guys got SF up and running again. The game is a little old school for the stuff out now. But i'm 39 so i'm old school myself.  Wink lag mine forever Wink Ripley.

SF 2.0 will be a nice update. You can get the Alpha version on SVN, its a VAST improvement so far, but is a work in progress, and doesn't have a nexus yet.
