I've been watching a certain players score get increased for the past couple days as I was informed. I often take it lightly first because often the player complaining is just seeing things, however since its in the top 10, it's painfully obvious and easy to watch. The points you gotten were very high, defo not something that can be done on the SF.NET servers. Everything is pretty much logged in the nexus now, so I can see everything. Having a private server that NO one can connect too also makes me wonder. And you aren't the first person to do this, so I'll be talking about this too. The only real thing here is when I'm notified of a score going high, I will set logging on and watch you.
I was watching 'both sides', as 'both sides' were screaming that the other was cheating, however, you were the only person caught so far. So you won't be the only one getting slammed down if I catch others. 1.4 might be a pain to moderate because of the modding cheats, but I still don't tolerate it. You are frozen until you explain to me what you did and we will figure out what we will do about it. But the whole statement of saying you are playing on SF.NET servers is untrue, as well. I don't want to 'ban' you permanently, but I want to know what you were using and any other info, and please don't try to act dumb.
Now, for 'private servers'. If you want a host a server and not allow anyone, that is FINE. However, because apparently most people act like kids and the only reason they do it is to cheat, you will need to add a exception to your firewall or gaming files. Please add
83.226.224.* to your firewall exception list, or the name "NiteHawk" to your gaming files, depending on how you are locking out people. A simple fact is that if I cannot connect and check out the server, I will think you are cheating. This only goes for people who
LOCK OUT THE PUBLIC. So pretty much, make sure I can connect, simply put. If you don't want to add this rule, then either don't make a locked out server, or expect to be banned. Your choice.
Let this be a warning to everyone. I don't care who is who, if I see a huge jump in score without the actual playtime, then you'll be dealt with. This might of not happened in the past, due to lack of tools, and the fact that 99% of the scores came from the Stardock nexus, but it will be handled now.
P.S. If you need help with setting up a firewall rule/name rule, I can explain it more through a PM. If you still don't understand, we can use a remote connection such as
www.teamviewer.com and I can do it for you.
