OE: I'm glad you guys are going out of your way to recruit new people, that's great, we need new pilots to help keep the game active.
However, you shouldn't be instantly recruiting every pilot that joins straight into the OE.
Train them, teach them the game, but don't subject them to the current drama by giving them an OE tag, and expecting the enemies of the OE to not kill them on sight.

Everyone else: Those who are attacking the OE should probably leave the new players alone, as you are also becoming part of the problem in relentlessly killing them to the point they get mad and quit.
I understand your dislike for the OE, but please don't take it out on new recruits to the game, don't bring up fleets or drama, just teach them how to play.

I hope this was neutral enough for a neutral forum.

Also, as they say in Allegiance: "Shut the $%!@ up and play"

yeah well around here you get blamed for lots of shit,  when others open their doors new players will have a place to go and i dont just put a tag on everyone we get.  the fan page is for the game not the OE.
just where else will they go?  if the other fleets stay closed?

Why do new players even need to join fleets?

I'm sure they'll open open their doors again once 2.0 is out

If not, I'm sure new fleets will develop.  Grin

No one blamed anyone for anything.

Also, if all the fleets heres are closing there doors to everyone, it's most likely becuase a lot of them feel they want to wait until 2.0 is open for business, which is there call. Though I do wish other fleets could do some preparation, I'm not going to beg or ask for it, it's the players doing.

I got so many PMs about this, 'Where would they go?', and my reply is "Why not create your own fleet?". I'm sure this is a possible idea too, plus it gives OE some large player competition anyways. Would require a leader however, some advertising, and some hard work much like OE has done. Either or, I think there 'are' possibilities, but people need to do it on their own.

Another thing is just being independent for a little bit and meet everyone first. That is the reason/idea for preventing people from joining fleets until a certain rank too. To actually make them do it. It lets them figure out what they want, who are there friends, who they want to fight, etc.

The current problem with recruiting new players is that the current SF system allows for multiple characters and IP address identification is all to familiar to the players of old as partially unreliable and not easy to discern unless said person is smart enough to know the difference between an ISP , real IP address and IP addresses that are familiar to a "router".  So some fleets are ultra paranoid of "spies". I've always found spies funny because the most they can do is set loose some rabid forum-warrior on you.

Typical fleets usually run their own recruitment servers and currently while we wait for 2.0 a sound majority of people appear to be waiting for it. Why? Because the nexus has been known to have to be reset and the trouble of getting your stats back is typically not possible without having to re-invest the same time to get it back.

Also some groups are full of older players trying to regain a grip on the game as well. For me coming back has been hard and I haven't played that much for instance. Mostly because I've had like half a dozen dentist appointments back to back and am extremely exhausted. That and some of us includding me play other games. I do agree however that SF could use the spark, a spark some of us are saving for the right moment instead of prematurely advertising SF to people who take first impressions way too seriously.

I would also like to add that its not like all the other fleets are closed to recruitment.  I myself, is just very selective on who I wish to bring in.  I prefer to determine their personality and potential before I go ahead and take in someone and begin to train them.  For me its typically taking in one player at a time and bringing them up to a high level (much of the time better than myself).  I just think it makes for a strong foundation for a very stable fleet.  I'm not interested in mass recruitment.  I actually prefer a small highly skilled band over a super large fleet.

However, that is my personal stance on things.  I don't think we should limit the amount a fleet can recruit.  New players should be able to think for themselves and make a decision with what they want to do.  I personally would love to see some newer players form up on their own and play together as a new fleet.  But I know that can sometimes be harder to learn how to play.  So in the end it really comes down to each player to decide what he/she wishes to do.  As always, I will throw in some suggestions and tactics if I come across someone who appears genuinely interested and wanting advice about the game.

I think things could be a lot better if

1. Mars quit being boot happy over insignificantly small things.
2. Everyone else refrained from making remarks towards OE or any of its members.

I know Mars is a little crazy in the head, this is a fact, but there's no point in bringing it up time and again!  Grin

I agree if the drama in general would just stop everything would be different. I know ive said this already but I haven't even been playing online for a week not even a week and i feel like im in a tug of war between the fleets wanting me. I left oe and mars made a big show of it and then others trying to get me to join all the time. Give it a rest and just let the players new to online play see how it is before they make the choice as to what they are going to do fleet wise.

Weylin... well said...

Why should the newer players have to suffer for a vendetta I have against there leaders.
It isnt fair to the new players nor to SF as a whole.

Orionx im sorry about what you had to hear. before. SF has alot to offer. and i wish you the best in whatever you decide to do.

To all new players i say this..

Dont let anyone sway you from the path you wish to make.
SF is yours as it is anyone elses. It doesnt matter what Myself , Mars, or anyone says.

There is much glory to be won and new storys to be made weither you join a fleet or make one youself.
its in your hands now.

The New players of today will be the vets of tomarrow.
To all players just remember that we were once newbies some still are but no matter.
Also do not give up if you cant fight with the vets yet it takes time to learn and experiance to roll with the the top guns.

best of luck.

Harpor out.

Mars, the flaming.

Also, try not to imply that he'll play alone. He won't. Your KOTH is not the only server available.

The OE King of the hill.

Had a very exploitable glitch.

The terrans were the only AI who captured the hill.
so one could just AFK there and gain alot of points every 15 mins.

Im sure you are aware of the Update that was done.

However thanks to the hard work of NightHawk
that glitch has been fixed with SF 1.4.1.0

along with several other bugs.
