Short story, Brent and I have some free time, we're working on SF. For the most case he's going to be breaking SF network down to nothing and redoing it, since right now it's apparent that the current network coding that was apart of 1.4 is too messed up to try to modify.

While he is doing that, I'm going to be working on the website/nexus. I had the webstudy from Minddragon, but never did it until now. This is what I got for a first time website layout:

http://stellarfrontier.net/test/

Mind you, the header/main image probably need work, if someone is GOOD at image design and wants to make a logo, feel free. I can provide the ship images that are pretty transparent so they can go anywhere. For now I will be working on getting the website working with the database, then ill complete the nexus I've been working on, which is about 25% complete.

Another note, I am honestly getting tired of the drama that happened. It's part of the reason why we got burnt out to begin with, was the community always fighting. I'm not saying it's never going to happen, it does in any community, but it was every day with alot of people! For the most case, I'm looking at jumping a moderator to a 'head/global' moderator, and they could take care of the drama and let the coders work on the game. The requirement for this position is that you MUST be fair to everyone, no favoring your friends, ban your buddies if you have too, etc. Everyone gets treated equally. If you are a moderator already and think you can handle this, let me know. I'll pick one from the bunch that PM me, if anyone does. This would mean is anyone has an issue, they would come to you rather then I. I also want to bring in short banning for stupid problems until you get the point. I'll make a writeup for this sometime.

Anyways, hope you like the site, PM me if you can make a awesome logo for us, or are a moderator and want to take the position that I've stated above.

Thanks.

The webpage is just a mock up layout. I need to make it all work. Does everyone like the news ticker, server status area, events area, etc? Should server status be RED (Full)/YELLOW(one slot left)/GREEN (+2 slots left) Or just red/green, or something else?

I like the layout, easy to navigate (If it could be), and easy on the eyes.

It looks fine to me Grin

Glad you guys like it. I'll be working on it locally over the next few weeks. Wink We'll probably migrate there when it's done. I don't prefer this host because they are constantly going down, plus having the sf.net website, stardocks, this one, etc, gets messy Smiley

How would this look for forums?  Mind you some colors are still not changed (like admin color is too dark for this), and some icons need changing too because they were meant for white backgrounds.

But the overall feel. It's more a dark theme overall that matches the site, but easy to read. Or hopefully should be. Any suggestions, or fine as is so far?

(Ignore the fact theres no sidebar info yet.)

Great, the colors are perfect for a SF site. I just like everything about it, it's light (in terms of source code size) and all

I like it.

Maybe a quick reply button, and links to the forum index on the top AND bottom (I mean the StellarForum > General > StellarChar > etc thing)

Different forum software, so it depends if PHPbb3 supports the lower navigation or not.

Since I'll be modifying it all might be possible. Quick reply probably exists with phpbb3, the forum index is probably a simple line add that I need to find.

Overall it's going to be custom becuase its going to be merged with the nexus accounts of course, including fleet information, etc. One big fancy package. Pretty much a CMS from scratch Smiley

I want to get rid of these boards within the following months because the spam I'm getting is driving me insane. Since I host the emailing provider this board uses, I get about 20-50 emails a day from spam signups.. I'd love a way to copy the development section though, not GD becuase GD has been full of arguments, but development has some fancy things, well see though.

My main concern is looks first, then we'll add user functionality Smiley Glad you guys like it, I haven't done a website from scratch in quite some time, so I thought it would be more problematic, but it's been pretty smooth.
