I have just rendered an almost complete Sol System replacement graphics package which should refresh the game's look in Sol.

BUT, this comes with a nasty price: WHITE DOTS. This is SF's doing.

I'll post screenies tomorrow.

TO AL: This voids that package I sent you awhile ago

That'll come with 1.3 or you'll have that server up sooner than ST's mod?

If they don't make a game proper (aka the white dots), I probably won't be using them as default, until we figure out a solution, no offence and all. Game does need a graphic update but right now they work with no issues.

Why does SF put white dots in it exactly? SF transparents out everything thats totally black atm, (255/255/255 RGB or color #000000).

These can wait until the solution has been found.

I've been prepping for the PNG conversion, so these are in both bitmap and PNG.

Heres what they should look like when you convert the game PNG:

The Planets

Not available in PNG yet are:

  • Terra
  • All of Uranus's satellites
  • Triton

In-game screenies next post.

In-game Screenies:

If you're wondering why Ceres is round, recent photographs suggest the dwarf planet is more round than asteroid-shaped. The image size is 48x48 vs Pluto's 56x56

(It also seems the game cut off Titania when I took the screenshot).

There is a simple fix for the white part... if you do this on paint you can fix it by filling it up with a color.

Saturn can be fixed by adding color black to the white area to make it seem more realistic to the background.

I don't know about PSP... But I always fixed it on Paint... and a planet would cut off cause it is not centered.

Revised Pluto's color, the latest "truecolor" image shows it to be tan, and I made the appropiate changes.

(I also threw in it's mini system, Nix & Hydra rotate too!).

I take Nix won't take too much pop... As far as I can see, it's smaller than an outpost?

Anything smaller than Charon (28x28) will most likely be uninhabitable, such as the case with Nix & Hydra, which show zero optimum population in-game. They're meant to be that size, because they are REALLY small.

This would be great to add in with a colony change as well before release at least for planets. ;P

I actually miss how colony defended their colonies back in 1.01 where if you colony spammed the colonies will be able to defend it self... Laser wise = 2 l2's really did some damage instead of 1 laser 2 = 5 laser 2 either way... I really do miss the old style of laser... it made it fun

Ok, I've managed to remove the white dots on most of them by reprocessing the bitmaps in PSP 3, the most noticable planets to suffer from PSP 3 are Saturn & Neptune, but its less noticable on Neptune. Results:

(Some of the "Computer display" images were fixed as well).
