Improvement? Yes.

Sunspots? Makes it more real! YES.

Make more? Try it, remake the stock suns and try making bigger & smaller stars with the same colours (or more accurate star colours), the game could use more stars rather than restricted to 384x384 and 128x128 for small stars.

SF uses:

  • "Green" (as stated in the filename "sf-g-sun.bmp"), Sol uses this
  • Orange
  • Red
  • Purple ("WTF" colour, I think it was supposed to represent the Blue spectrum/Super-duper hot range, next to white)
  • Beige/White

Sure Tongue I'm not good with sizes, perhaps you'll want to give me some set sizes for me to work on. Not sure how many you think would be good though.. Tongue

Basicly used a layer, kinda like how you'd map out a character image, cept its alot easier when theres just a circle.. Sunspots ftw Wink

Though it looks bland with just the image, so had to make it 'glow', then threw on a corona around it, and sun flares, or whatever those are called.Tongue

Sunspots are never that big, and the sun is actually kind of orangeish (not quite so yellow). http://stardate.org/images/gallery/sun5.jpg

Use this as a place to start. With a few modifications this could look rather hot and sunny.

I believe sunspots can be that big. The problem is they aren't exactly visible to the naked eye.

I am uninspired by dim suns that look like soupy or solid balls of physical matter, especially when compared to the newer, brighter planet images. I searched the web for a realistic image of the sun, but only found various kinds of false color images. Thus, I used the original sf-sun.bmp as a base to make the following celestial fireball.
