Now thats really good....awesome shipyard.

IF you're up to the challenge, try making a 3d and a wireframe.

Looks pretty good in general. How come it needs boost though, won't it just be orbiting planets?

I like it, does it have 6 shipyard bays though? Rather it seems kind of big for just two, and 6 would be a bit to much if thats the case.

Well, it's definately big, but I put it together based on something I swiped of the net, and did it at 500 x 500 so I could make it look good.

The default SF ships are 3D models broken down to just flat images... I had to get to work.

As for the BOOST drive...

Well, given that it's going to spawn on plants, it needs some engine power to propel itself into orbit.  And you never know who might modify it for player use.  (Player operated mobile superdock... ouch.)

Now, as for the docking arms.

2 is intended once it's shrunken down to a more managable size, but at it's full size, each of those side areas would be a dock scaffolding, so four in all at full size.

It shouldn't be possible to have a 'superdock' ship of doom. If a player wants to operate a dock that's fine, but docks should be relatively fragile things as I stated in another post in the Development board...

We're not MAKING a superdock ship of doom.  I don't know where you got that idea.

Want it to 'splode from potshots?  Give it no shields, no armor, and power one.  BOOM!

I got the idea, perhaps, from your last post, where you mentioned a so-called "player operated mobile superdock... ouch."

We're essentially rebuilding the stock game.  It'll be balanced out to work thussly.

But what people do for mods is not our concern asside from helping to ensure they can build them without restriction.  I consider it a gesture of good will to at least provide a complete version of something I come up with for use.

Yeah I think we're basicly making it heavy on the armor and shields but maybe a weapon or two, like two [name1] weapons Tongue Who knows yet.

Missiles should slow people speed down instead of killing people's shield.

Also on the side note... a dock is a lot more powerful with rapid 2 than having a laser 3 attached to it... Reason Numero Uno... is that laser's can't damage cloaked ships... while rapid 2 can kill you off...

Since Rapid 1 is killed as a weap... why not just have R2 renamed to Rapid.

It's been a while since last post, but I really like the idea of a shipyard. The design looks rad.

Yeah, it will basicly fill the role of spawning ships Smiley So instead of SB doing it, SB will be a defensive role only, and everyone will start with one shipyard.

Shipyards will be tough though, though there not super tough in retrospectives, sometimes you have to bend the rules a tad when everyone relies on a shipyard to spawn ships rather then planets. Planets will always spawn them at a slow rate, depending on population and shipyards will spawn them at a high rate, depending on the population in the shipyard (which is scaled different vs the planet, it will be something like 20k for fast spawn, etc. )

I'll probably have it so you can set a 'inital' population on ships but eh, we'll see.
