I used to play SF years and years ago, I came back on a nostalgia trip recently and a few things have changed. I decided to start with a new character. I've noticed StellarAces is no longer part of the game, purchased or free. I haven't seen a maurader, either. Lasers are still in the refit window (but not rams). When I use the laser, I get the message of "Ram cheat detected, kicking player. Zeroing stats..." when I play on a server I'm hosting. Sometimes it happens at random when not using laser. What's going on? I can't get anywhere if my stats keep getting reset...

First, the ships were reorganized to be "more balanced"...of course this will/has alienated the older player base who played on 1.2x and below....I was gunna suggest to switch the "Frigate" and "Destroyer" graphics around to help resemble the destroyer to the old Marauder.

2nd, we're going to remove the Ram cheat detection, it just wrecks custom mods and the resync/F9 has been adjusted to it cannot be used while docked on a starbase, which pretty much voids the purpose of the detector.

Are you playing a custom mod? Alot of things have been changed and thats the reason why it could be giving you the ram cheat. Sometimes though this just happens in the blue, shouldn't happen everytime unless theres an issue with the mod.

And yeah going to be removing ram cheat.

RAM should still be in, I haven't removed it...

And yeah, Marauder was for paying customers, it was the strength of a Dread, and fast like a corvette/scout. Overpowered and just made to benifit people who play. Wanted to get more a balanced feel, but even still, little ships still seem overpowered in a sense for the default settings.

Wrong ram....

MEMORY ram is what the Ram Cheat means...  As in, actively altering data in the ram cache by using a hex editor to say, lock your shields at 100 percent no matter how much fire you take.

Rams are at the bottom.

The ram cheat thing is virtually useless now. It was made for like windows 95. Doesn't work anymore, I can memory edit anything without the system caring, it's kind of a crappy thing.

In general games use a special embedded program that prevents memory cheating, might look into it one day. Sort of like punkbuster, but not as fkin annoying. In genereal for 2.0 we'll be making the values encrypted, aka searching for 1000 lets say, which is your shield value, will be 421901290. Simply put, its impossible to search for values because the values change rapidly.

Issue is to add that, will take a very long time, so I am not yet. But will be in.
