Well I was looking at the shield design and I think it's pretty old school now in days. Though it looks ok still, I was looking at custom mods and realizing alot of ships just use a circle design simply because there is no ship bmp for the current custom ship sizes.

On top of that, resizing the current ones make it look pretty horrible. I was wondering who could design a new 'template' for ship designs. In order for this to work probably needs to be able to be sized.

For example, after a certain size, the green bar shouldn't expand either, else it overlaps ships for example. What I mean is the borderlength of the actual shield design shouldn't go over about 6-8 pixels so it doesn't start overlapping ship images like it would if you size up images now.

Basicly the image sizes needed currently would be:

Code:
8
12
16
20
24
28
32
36
40
48
56
64
80
96
128

They would need to be more none round like the current ones, else if they are going to be bigger, we need to size it more then just +8 pixels more, maybe even +15 pixels from the ship design.

Basicly, I was either thinking of the same RED-ORANGE-GREEN type, or even a nice light blue/actual looking shields that seem to 'fade' when there almost depleated.. Maybe both however and I'll have a special toggle for people. But it will be good to get some sorta inital design first and we can see.

Please remember to keep it within SF limits atm.

i had a idea for that too is there a way to use a gif?  file i can make a 3d shield that will show the impacts and as the shield  gets to 0 should fade out.

i can also do this in a animated jpg format i think altho it will be a mini mini mpg or fli when its done.
it could even be done as a filmstripped set of jpg's if done in 3d.

i would like a shot at that too.

Impacts looks are determined by weapon not the actual shield looks. Technically I was aiming to make it so shields have a special impact filmstrip too.
