Something I think you guys should think about on a very basic level... no matter what we do to the game... I think Burnout 3's toutorial said it best.

Risk = Reward

You take risks, if you pull it off, you get rewarded.  The fundamentals of everything we do should promote that.  No risk?  No Reward.  That simple.

No matter what dynamics get set up, you should stop and think about what the risk is to the gamer, and how that risk should be rewarded.

This has been an anouncment from Stryker, on Crash FM.

That's a way to look at it pretty clearly. But how would this work in relevance to a 2D space game? Killing ships, capping planets, etc. Would it be more value to kill a ship nearby a enemy planet? Seems would be to fancy. Doesn't seem like theres much other then capping planets and killing ships. Though we DO need more then those to, like you stated in another post on how points should be rewarded.

Maybe a 3 min help once you cap the planet... Lasers set up around the planet... Or a 3 min starbase... and just deactivates or self destruct.... Anyone play Starport Galactic Empires :? They have a landing on a planet feature... Where your planet from inside has like its own defense... to cap it you must be 100 energy entering the dome.

That would be a cool idea, having to drop down to orbit and cap the planet inside. Wonder how that would work with SF

It does sound cool, draw some landscape, your starship, a structure or two and the units (which should be customizable with weapons and etc.)...and draw out a map or something so each planet is unique in some way so you have to have a strategy to cap a planet instead of going through the same thing for each planet....but that will need some coding...

I would prefer it be like Capture the planet... so The game wouldn't be so long... Cause if players spent time to redefend it... You would be looking at a long long... 3 month game... It also has Corporation (What we call Fleets) There is the CEO... and others join it... I would suggest going in yourself so you can see how it is... and get ideas... Since SF is more of a quick 30 min game... SGE is more of a 3 year game...

Since we orbit... I would suggest going into the planet and fight it out... 3-4 players vs 3-4 players just battleling it out to capture the planet... of course the players who have the planet has a better advantage than those who are trying to take it... make it more of a keep it for 30-40 secs to Capture it...

IN SGE you just tap it with 1000 energy on you.
