Mars,

I think what set people off was "What no one wants to help?". We do want to help, and we are.

We will be advertising too once 2.0 is to a place where we think that people will look at it and not think it's just another resurrected 1998 game. The thing is that we may only get one chance to grab these people's eyes, and we want to make sure we're ready for it when they give us once chance at playing the game.

Mars, I'm looking towards effective marketing, it's something I know really well from my job. I'm not trying to undermine you works towards advertising the game AND community, I'm stating my point of view regarding a really oldschool game which won't sound too attractive to players these days.

I'm also stating a recommendation for your efforts, since I know you're very excited towards the revival of the game. Testing the game until growing sick of it is the best way for a successful quality control, so when 2.0 comes out it comes out clean, so we can present a new community a game that meets today's standards. Why even drag in players when your game is buggy?

This is only my opinion, from the point of view of a professional marketing consultant. This is all without whatever rivalry you may want to put in it.

Look its not that i see both ways i do,  i understand why bring in players to a game they will leave before 2.0  i understand that.   however sf has always drawn a crowd even buggy and we just wanted more than we have now to help spread the word for 2.0.    word of mouth for a new game goes a long way.

im sorry if i some how upset anyone this was a effort to support sf the best the OE knows how because some of us dont have paypal or paypal is banned for some like me,  and i wanted to help, Misty so far has run the ads and the team effort even with tribe has been a good work in progress as the fan page now has 36 with several unknowns.

some cds burnt have been sent out as well and well see if they help too.

We have OTHER paid plans aswell come 2.0 Chill Tromp and Nite.

We think that the main part of our plan will happen come 2.0 when we can burn the rest of our cds and put up two more ads.   I dont want to go down in sf history as not trying to save the game the best way we can do, others can have the glory of having their name posted as giving donations and thats all good. but were spending money as well.

We will do anything ask to help the makers.

I have to say that after reading several threads, two of which are locked to any one else's responses I'm not in much of a happy, happy mood.  I have taken my meesly, inconsequental and non professional ads from fb and gameworld. I thought that working on SF and 2.0 was a collaborative effort, I was wrong, but it isn't the first time and it won't be the last.  It will be, however, the last time I spend money to help get 2.0 anywhere.  The scales are tipped and there is no true balance or neutral leadership that I have seen except in the OE where I will continue with my efforts to help and bring growth.

No one said what you're doing is wrong. It's just odd-timed. We don't have a 2.0 for people to come to play.

The original topic in tech issues about the new ship images was locked because those ships, I found them all on google sketch that a character named Nate stated was his. Can't use those, specially because they were never his to begin with (stolen), so I locked it. Now mars is doing his own thing without any help and I fully support it, but he is working/learning on how to make them, and of course he is getting better from when he started because he is working at it alot. Graphics design has a steep learning curve, and I do know if he sticks with it he'll get some very nice ships going that match the current 2.0 ships, or better. But I deleted my post explaining it because I dealt with it in PM with Mars, who severed all ties with Nate on this matter.

The other GD topic, was locked because there is nothing else to say, and all that was happening was a bash to each other, ATC picked at Mars, and Mars picked back (though it should not of been started to begin with by ATC). It would of kept going on like this until someone stopped it, (and the issue was dealt with) I've seen it several times here with the same people alot. I think everyone honestly needs to work together better rather then bashing each other. If you don't like something, someone should post, with constructive criticism.

I'm not locking topics just because though, I do explain it, but I prefer to do it with the people in question rather then declaring it publicly on the boards to prevent further bashing/etc.

No one stated your efforts was in vein, but the issue is no one wants to play a game that has bad net coding, which is being worked on and almost done in SF 2.0 (except for some message issues I believe.) I welcome all the support, what I don't welcome is people harrassing each other for no reason! I do understand there are going to be conflicts, but it's not needed with the small playerbase we have at the moment, it just drives people away. It's hard to advertise a game that isn't out yet, and people probably download the SF 1 version, and are disappointed due to it being very very outdated, you know? At this time the SF 1.4 is the 'main release', and you can only get SF 2 though SVN, which is not the easiest way for most players to get, but its the only way right now to keep everyone up to date constantly without having to repackage everything daily/weekly. I do want advertising, but I think at this point of stage we should wait until we have a full alpha release and can main it our 'main' focus on SF.NET with a proper download etc etc. I apologies you feel the way you do though, I do wish there was more I can say about the matter. Hopefully when we are more developed and have a calmer community overall we can try this again if you are up to it.

SF is indeed a collaborative effort, it always has been and it always will be. We appreciate any and all help, and I think you and the OE have been very helpful and have made some significant contributions to the game and to the community, which I really appreciate. And I think we all do try our best to be fair and neutral (please also see Nite's post above explaining the "locked threads" and why they were locked). In some threads, people - including, in some cases, forum staff - may have strong opinions which they might express, but these feelings and sentiments are not necessarily always reflective of Nite's or my stance.

If there is anything in particular that I can do to help better address your concerns please don't hesitate to let me know.

well in light of current events and that there are now 91 on the fan page we have decided for me this pay period to run a new fb ad.

This ad will not just include the logo and things from the old site, but i will ask chill for a few ideas more we can add to it.   i want to run the ad cause if we can get a fair fan base like we have had of recent, and im loving seeing some times 10 or so on a server lately who really like the game,  i wanted to have a fan base large enough that when 2.0 came out we could have many new folks ready right then to jump on and since were telling folks in advance about the low to no lag features of 2.0 and counting the new ones that like it and have stayed,  we think a new small ad would help sf yet another boost and more on the fan page as there come 2.0 time we already have a base where we can message many and say hey and heressssssss 2.0

many are waiting now just for that i wanted to have about 300 on the fan page before we broke news of 2.0 is here stuff.   so in what ever time we have left im working hard to make that occur.

best yet is how many new players are on every nite on the servers and seems like tuesdays is the best nite where most come out.

i hope that all goes well
cause i love the thrill of competing vs so many others.   i dont for sure mind FAIR when being competed against.  I loose quite often in battle yet i always give as good as i get.
