the network code is awful.
Any competent game designer would make the data update and sync in real time.

ie. I switch off my modem and a bunch of people send text messeges, as soon as I power my modem back on, The server still sends the data I missed.

But with SF, it starts off moving shit around where the client thinks it is.

Ugh.. so... bad

Well back then it was pretty standard to have syncing and such, I remember a few games having this way back then. I do also believe it was there first online game etc too that they did. I think it was fine and ok back then (200-400ms lag was standard with modems) but defiantly not for today standards. Smiley But the coding hasnt been changed since the high 90s from what I recall so its defiantly old school

today in the US server before sharpclaw took over and still has i see as of 11pm ct,  me and ren were playing and he was towing my sb to the next planet ok and a bot started following us so not really engaged i hit a and 5 and set the laser on him,  as the laser hit him and ren towed me he was also stuck to the end of the laser and followed us all the way from pluto to jupiter,  when we got there he was still attached to the end of my lazer so i f9 and he was still there. stuck like a tractor taking very little damage.  it was about the weirdest yet.

Yeha I recoded the laser structure. When a laser is out of range and firing it won't do any damage, just FYI. Smiley

The Scout is actually a scout now, and not a overpowerd ship.

For flying at .90cc+, you could gear it up with power:5/shields:5 and some good weapons, which was pointless to be for example, a frigate/destroyer type ship or other ships because you could get the same stuff on a destroyer that you could on a frigate (THE ESSENTIALS)

Corvettes are supposed to be fast and weak, shouldn't beable to have the same gear a destroyer should have Smiley

Well lets not blame the new team that is fixing a classic, that was made by a company, that has a history of making horrible games, especially after they abandoned SF... I think the new team has more heart... and skill.

Well all games do get abandoned over time. I'm just glad they released the source for us to beat on Wink Mainly I think this was a indie project that was hosted/published by Stardock. But Doug/Kris/etc are pretty cool guys anyways. But we'll revive this project Wink
